This episode is about something that touches every single one of us — connection. Why we need it, what happens when we lose it, and what can happen when we simply show up and let a new one in.
Did you know the US Surgeon General declared loneliness and isolation an epidemic? It affects nearly half of all U.S. adults, and the numbers for the 55+ community are even more sobering. But here’s the good news: making connections at this stage of life is different — we know who we are, we’re not competing, and our friendships are more authentic.
In this episode, I share the story of a connection I didn’t know I was ready to make — one that started with nothing more than showing up to a luncheon. Then, in Food for Thought, I dig into a kind of friendship I’d never really considered, one that just might surprise you. And in What I’m Learning, I get personal about my own brush with isolation and what pulled me out of it.
Question of the Week: When was the last time you almost talked yourself out of showing up — and what happened when you went anyway? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
