Tom McElman – Singer/Songwriter Coming To The R2RB Lineup

When I was a kid, I loved spinning records! From the time I realized that I could play something other than Puff n Toot on my Playschool record player, a whole new world opened up for me. I discovered an old box of 45s in a closet from the 60s, and an explosion went off in my soul. I thought, “This is what it’s all about”. I then discovered Rock radio in the late 70s in Boston. With stations like WBCN and WCOZ, I lost a lot of sleep listening to the overnight DJs. They were the cool ones!

My goal is to bring that magic to my show. I don’t want to just play songs, I want the listener to feel the vibe of what the artists were trying to convey. I want to provide an intimate setting where it’s “just you and me listening to records.” Listening to music in that context, added a whole other dimension for me and I want to bring that same magic to those who are missing that and to a generation that missed out on it the first time around.
